Preaching justice to be theme of seminary lectureship

Preaching justice in a global world is the theme of the 2015 Theological Lectureship at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, presented by Dr. Gennifer Brooks, March 17 and 18.
Brooks, who is a professor of homiletics at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, Ill., will give four presentations. On Tuesday, March 17, she will speak in a chapel service beginning at 11:45 a.m. and will give her first lecture at 1:30 p.m. On Wednesday, March 18, she will lecture at 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. All presentations will be in the seminary’s Chapel of the Sermon on the Mount, 3003 Benham Avenue, Elkhart.
Brooks is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. She holds Master of Business Administration, Master of Divinity, Doctor of Ministry, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees and has had a successful career in corporate leadership as well as serving as a pastor. She holds the Styberg chair in preaching and is the tenured Ernest and Bernice Styberg Professor of Homiletics and Director of the Styberg Preaching Institute at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Brooks is also the dean of the Association of Chicago Theological Schools Doctor of Ministry in Preaching program. She is the editor of Black United Methodists Preach! (Abingdon, 2012) that showcases fourteen United Methodist Black Preachers, and she is author of numerous books and articles.
