Understanding Trauma in Ministry and Peacebuilding CHM645 / B
This class provides an interdisciplinary introduction to trauma and healing, including the history and current theories in the field, the nature of trauma, and how trauma impacts individuals and communities. It incorporates theological, psychological, sociocultural, and scientific perspectives in its exploration of trauma and healing, asking how this approach impacts pastoral caregiving and peacebuilding. The course seeks to offer practical resources for care of trauma victims and survivors in individual and communal settings, as communities and societies move from violence toward peace. Students will have opportunities to explore and apply approaches for healing and resilience through case studies and other practical exercises, and will also spend time exploring the caregiver鈥檚 response(s) to trauma.
